Prisoner facing capital punishment escapes from Hindalaga jail in Belagavi

Bengaluru: Murugesh Alias Muruga, a resident of Salem district in Tamil Nadu, who was given death penalty by a Chamarajanagar court escaped from the Hindalaga jail of the Belagavi. Following the news, senior officers of the Department of Prison rushed to Belagavi.

Muruga was given the death penalty for murdering five persons including a girl in Harale village near Kollegal in the year 2015. He was kept in Hindalaga jail, but he escaped on Wednesday late night.

A special team has been formed to arrest him.
