Bangalore : All ‘podi’ land cases of farmers in the state will be settled by December, informed State Revenue Minister V Shrinivas Prasad.
Answering a query from BJP member Ravisubrahmanya in the Assembly,he said presently 1,39,855 cases are pending in the state and the number is expected to increase to 2.29 lakh in coming days.
The State Government is committed to clear the ‘Podi’ land cases of farmers at the earliest, the minister said. Along with government land surveyors, the services of licensed private surveyors will be availed to settle 53,000 cases every month, he informed.
There are 2345 land surveyors in the state at present and training is imparted to 1013 licensed land surveyors. Once they take up the work, ‘Podi’ cases will be settled, he said and informed that each land surveyor will have to handle 23 cases in a day.
The government is aware that the farmers are unhappy over the non-settlement of the cases, the minister said and informed that if all documents are in order the cases would be settled in one month.
