Bengaluru: Karnataka, especially Bengaluru, has been reeling under the increasing number of COVID-19 cases. With a total of 47,253 cases and 928 deaths as on July 15, the state is one of the worst affected in the country and stands fourth in the country with regard to the number of confirmed cases.
Commenting on the situation, Karnataka Health Minister B Sreeramulu said that only God can protect the state from the increasing cases.
It can be noted that Karnataka reported the highest number of cases on Wednesday with 3176 fresh infections.
“Only God can save us," he is reported to have said, adding that the people have to bring in caution on their own.
It can be recalled that some districts in the state have opted to enforce a lockdown to curb the spread of the disease.
Reportedly, Sreeramulu said that the number of COVID-19 positive cases can be expected to double in the state within the next month.
Commenting on the novel coronavirus, the minister said that it does not discriminate based on wealth, religion, caste, or community. "The cases are going to increase... It is only God who can save us,” the minister added.
