Bengaluru: Trouble knocked the doors of Sandalwood actress Pooja Gandhi and the Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil Prakashbabu Mensinkai when both of them were accused of not paying the bills related to a hotel stay and other facilities for about a year, here on Tuesday, March 19.
BJP leader Anil Mensinkai and Pooja Gandhi were accused of not paying the bills of a year’s stay in Hotel Ashoka, which had accumulated to about Rs 26.22 Lakh.
As they had not paid the bills, the hotel administration had filed a complaint in the High Grounds Police Station on March 11.
The hotel administration said that they had tried calling both of them but they were not reachable. With no options left, they had filed a complaint against the duo.
Based on this, Pooja Gandhi was called to the station for enquiry.
According to police sources, Pooja Gandhi paid Rs 2.25 Lakh and requested for time to repay the rest of the amount.
According to Pooja Gandhi, she had made room arrangements in Hotel Ashoka for her film production team and they had stayed there for about a year.
She said, “Anil is just a partner in my production team and I had no business links with him.”
On the other hand Anil has said, “I have no business links with Pooja and I have not visited Hotel Ashoka. I am not aware why my name has been linked to this case.”
As both had given contradictory statements, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Division, Devaraja has ordered for a probe in the presence of both Pooja and Anil, which may be conducted tomorrow, in order to get clarity in the case.
However, the hotel administration has confirmed that they had already paid Rs 22.80 Lakh and had a balance of Rs 3.50 Lakh to be paid.
Along with Pooja, Anil too paid Rs 1.25 Lakh in the presence of Inspector Sadiq Pasha to the hotel administration.
