Bengaluru: In a major relief to the state government, the staff of the National Health Mission (NHM) have withdrawn their strike.
It can be noted that the state government had been struggling to provide quality health care for the past two weeks due to a strike by over 30,000 NHM staffers.
The NHM staffers decided to call off the strike after a meeting between the union representatives and state Health Minister B Sreeramulu, where the latter assured the union members that all their demands would be considered and a final decision will be taken soon.
The union has been demanding equal payment, regularisation of services and other facilities for serving in hospitals. However, the state government had rejected them saying that it was not in a position to fulfil their demands.
For the past 15 days, the staffers were on strike, which affected various services in government hospitals in the state.
