Bengaluru: A day after the state Cabinet decided to ban the SDPI and PFI, BJP MP from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya met with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa to thank him. He met with the CM at his residence in Dollars Colony, Bengaluru.
As per reports, during the meeting, Surya asked the CM to send a proposal to the Centre, seeking a ban on the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) at the earliest.
It can be recalled that on Friday, January 17, police arrested six persons alleged to SDPI members for plotting the murder of MP Tejasvi Surya and right-wing activist and orator Chakravarthy Sulibele.
The news had sparked outrage will calls for a ban on the party. It can be recalled that the SDPI has been blamed for the attack on Congress MLA Tanveer Sait in November of 2019 as well as the recent violence in Mangaluru during the anti-CAA protests.
Reportedly, MP Tejasvi Surya will be meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah today, during his visit to the state, to request him to ban the SDPI.
