Bengaluru: In a sudden development, Member of Parliament from Bengaluru South Tejasvi Surya exited the “Team Tejasvi for Media” WhatsApp group on Saturday, January 18.

On the group, Surya had sent a WhatsApp message inviting mediapersons to attend the inuaguration of his new office in Jayanagar by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was in Bengaluru for a short while to attend a programme at the Palace Grounds before leaving for Hubballi.

However, soon after sending the message, sent a text reading, “*Pls note:- As per the security reasons media is not allowed. We will provide you the video link and photo will be shared in the same group. pls co operate with us..”

After a few minutes, the state BJP WhatsApp group sent a message all the mediapersons to attend the programme and provide maximum coverage. Confused by this, the media personnel asked, “The state BJP says ‘kindly cover’ and Surya says ‘media not allowed due to security reason’. Who are we to believe?” Replying to this, the state BJP group wrote, “The message texted by MP Tejasvi Surya’s group is official. The state BJP apologizes for the confusion. We are taking back the invite that we posted.”

Following the confusion, Surya received a lot of flak on the WhatsApp group for not informing about the programme correctly.

According to reports, soon after the row, Surya exited the state BJP WhatsApp group.
