Bengaluru: Adithya Rao, who surrendered before the DG-IGP office in the city claiming that he kept bomb at the Mangalore International airport on Monday moring has been sent for medical examination as he looks mentally ill.
According to the sources, once he arrived at the DG-IGP office and started confessing that he kept bomb, the staff who were present summoned the Halsur gate police, who took him to the station.
As he was looking frail and acting abnormal, he was sent for medical examination, said sources.
Rao was taken to a state-run hospital for check-up and will be produced in a local court for his transit custody and interrogation by the Mangaluru police.
“However, the questions that needs to be answered are where he procured the bomb and why he planted it in MIA,” said sources familiar to the developments.
Meanwhile, it is also said that Rao, who has been working as a security guard in Mangalore was in jail for over nine months in a fake bomb threat case at the Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli.
Sources say that despite being an engineer, who also holds an MBA degree, Rao aspired to become a security guard in the airport. He had even applied for the same in KIA, but was denied a job, following which he came to Mangaluru.
