Bengaluru: Police arrested a 30-year-old Uber driver for allegedly molesting a 25-year-old techie in Bengaluru on Tuesday, February 18. The incident reportedly took place on February 1 evening, according to a complaint filed by the victim.

The accused has been identified as Hindupur resident Ram Mohan.

In her complaint, the victim said that she had booked an Uber cab to return home after visiting her friend in Hebbal. After reaching KR Puram, the cab driver allegedly molested the victim by pulling at her clothes and put his hands on her leg. The victim further alleged that Mohan threatened to keep driving around unless she promised to not file a police complaint.

However, the woman narrated the incident to her friend and filed a complaint at KR Puram Police Station on February 11.

Speaking to TNM, the police said, “The complaint was filed on February 11 but the driver had absconded. His phone was switched off for a while. We tracked the mobile signal to Hindupur, which is his home town and arrested him.”

The police also informed that Ram Mohan has been booked under section 354A (outraging the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code and is yet to be produced before the court.
