Bengaluru: Decision of 10 MLAs from North Karnataka region to have dinner, on Monday night at industries minister Jagadish Shettar’s residence sparked a new controversy.

Senior party leaders including Raju Nayaka, Basanagauda Patil Yatnal, Umesh Kattti and others dined at the residence of Shettar leaving the BJP state leaders uncomfortable.

According to the sources, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, who learnt about this dinner meeting has asked party MLAs not to hold any such meetings as it may send out a wrong message.

Initially it was stated that 24 MLAs had participated in the dinner, but later it was confirmed that only ten MLAs were present.

Meanwhile, fearing that it may result in a new controversy, Shettar clarified that it was only an informal meeting. “No politics was discussed,” he clarified to media.

However, the meeting has sparked speculations. The dinner grabs headline specially because there are news reports making rounds that an anonymous letter to change Chief Minister in Karnataka has created flutter in the state BJP.

Meanwhile, Umesh Katti is disappointed as he missed out on a cabinet berth. His efforts to narrate his story to BJP national leader Amit Shah too yielded no results and soon after missing a cabinet berth, Katti had announced that he is fit to be a Chief Minister.
