Bengaluru: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, was on Thursday, summoned by the Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru to appear for questioning in connection with the alleged illegal denotification case. Kumaraswamy has been summoned for questioning on October 4.
It can be recalled that in October 2007, when HDK was Chief Minister, a complaint was filed by M Mahadeva Swamy with the Lokayukta, accusing him of illegally denotifying land in Banashankari’s Halage Vaderahalli.
M Mahadeva Swamy, a resident of the Chamarajanagar district, had accused Kumaraswamy of passing an order to denotify 2.24 acres of land listed under survey numbers 128 and 137 at Halage Vaderahalli in Bengaluru in favour of some people. This land was later sold to builders.
The complainant had alleged that HDK’s denotification of the land had resulted in a loss of Rs 56.6 crore to the state exchequer.
Special judge Ramachandra D Huddar had, on July 20 this year, rejected the Lokayukta’s B Report (closure report) in this case stating that the sections mentioned in the FIR were too serious. The complainant was also directed to record his statement in court.
