Bengaluru: Karnataka, on Wednesday, July 8, reported the largest spike in COVID-19 cases with 2062 new infections. The state also reported 54 new COVID-19 deaths within 24 hours.
“New cases reported from Tuesday 5 p.m. to Wednesday 5 p.m., 2,062,” said a health official.
Bengaluru Urban alone reported 1148 cases. The other cases were reported from Dakshina Kannada (183), Dharwad (89), Kalaburagi (66), Ballari (59), Mysuru (59), Bengaluru Rural (37), Ramanagar (34), Chikkaballapura (32), Udupi (31), Haveri (31), Bidar (29), Belagavi (27), Hassan (26), Bagalkot (24), Tumakuru (24), Chikkamagaluru (23), Mandya (20), Uttara Kannada (19), Davanagere (18), Raichur (17), Shivamogga (17), Kolar (16), Yadagir (11), Koppal (11), Gadag (5), Vijayapura (4), and Chitradurga (2).
With this, the total number of infections in the state has risen to 28,877 and death toll to 470.
There are 16527 active COVID-19 cases in the state as on July 8. On a positive note, record 778 patients got discharged, increasing the total discharges to 11,876.
However, total number of cases in ICU rose to 452.
