Karnataka goes for shutdown: 12 days complete lockdown started April 22

Bengaluru: As the number of cases per day increases drastically, the Karnataka government has decided to impose a lockdown starting from April 22 afternoon till May 4.

In addition to extending the pre-existing night curfew (from 9 pm to 6 am) and weekend curfew (from From Friday 9 pm to Monday 6 am.) in Karnataka, the state government has added restrictions on activities during daylight hours to combat Covid-19.

Following the revised guidelines, only essential services will be allowed to operate. Along with these establishments, Hospitals, Metro, and parcel services will be allowed to operate.

On Saturday and Sunday groceries, vegetable, milk shops are open only from 6 am to 10 am. All the shops except those of essential commodities and construction materials are all closed.

There is no restriction on public movement but under section 144 not more than 4 people should gather in public places. Individuals are not allowed to venture out during curfew unless in case of emergencies/essential activities. It is mandatory for the staff to show their ID card obtained by the organization.

Movie theatres, Swimming pools, Parks, Assembly halls Gyms, yoga, and sports centers, Places of worship, schools, and colleges, educational or training institutions, Malls, Clothing shops will remain closed from tomorrow April 21 to May 4, to help control the pandemic in the state. However, restaurants and bars are permitted to operate but customers are only allowed takeaway options and not dine in.

All the Construction work, repair activities are allowed to operate adhering to covid appropriate behavior (CAB). Banks insurance offices, ATMs, Online delivery of items are permitted.

However, there is no restriction on the interstate and intrastate movement of persons and goods, but people coming from other states shall strictly adhere to the prevailing guidelines issued by the health department. Movement of the people through public transport with 50% seating capacity is allowed. Marriages permitted strictly adhering to CAB with a maximum of 50 people. At the funeral, only 20 people are allowed.

To ensure strict enforcement of the measures, the government has said that legal action will be taken against those who don’t follow the guidelines.

However, the State government will issue complete guidelines soon.
