Bengaluru: The state Cabinet, which met on Thursday, discussed the demand for banning the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and Popular Front of India (PFI) in the state. However, no decision has yet been made in this regard.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, law and parliamentary affairs minister J C Madhuswamy said that it was decided to seek more information from the police and the home department regarding the evidence against these two organisations, which can help the government o ban them.

According to sources, during the meeting, a few ministers, including home minister Basavaraj Bommai, C T Ravi, Suresh Kumar and others, urged the government to ban the two organisations as they have allegedly been involved in anti-social activities in the state.

During the meeting, it was also decided that the state Assembly session will be held between September 21 and 30.
