Karnataka breaches 11,000-mark, 144 cases reported from Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Bengaluru once again accounted for high cases in Karnataka. A total of 144 people tested positive in the city while the state witnessed 445 new cases of COVID-19 patients on Friday. The latest increase took the total tally in the state beyond 11,000. The death toll in Karnataka stands at 180 – 10 deaths were reported on Friday. A total of 246 people were discharged from hospitals.

Since there are 3,905 active cases in the state, more than 7,000 people have recovered from the infection. As per the latest release, 21 international passengers tested positive on Friday while 65 people were from other states. The officials screened 100 people at the airports.

In total, they conducted 14,733 tests on Friday 13,817 people tested negative. The officials have so far conducted 5,68,058 tests in the state. An increase in the number of tests being conducted is one of the reasons behind the latest increase in the number of COVID-19 patients.

The central government is likely to take note of increasing cases in Bengaluru. The city has been witnessing high cases for a while now. It is slowly turning into a hotspot.

The country entered Unlock 1.0 from June 1 but the lockdown was extended in containment zones till June 30.
