Journo dies in accident, DCM Ashwathnarayan announces Rs 5 lakh solatium

Ramanagara: A journalist working for a Kannada news channel died in a road accident in the Ramanagara district on Tuesday afternoon. The accident reportedly occurred near the Ramnagar jail where he had gone for news coverage.

Hanumanthu (31), who worked with news channel Public TV, died while he was returning from the Ramanagara jail after covering a news story.

It is said that an ATM cash van hit his bike from behind.

Hanumanthu is survived by a wife and a child.

Deputy Chief Minister and Ramanagara district in-charge Minister A N Ashwathnarayan has announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the bereaved family on his own behalf.

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy too announced a solatium of Rs 5 lakh to the family on his own behalf.

Congress state unit chief D K Shivakumar has condoled the death.
