JDS leader HDK lauds party for supporting transgender candidate in GP polls

Bengaluru: JDS-backed third gender candidate Mamatha Vijaya has won the recently held Gram Panchayat polls from Kudluru GP in Chennapatna.

After her victory, JDS leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the victory is JDS’ first step towards empowering the sexual minorities.

While congratulating Mamatha Vijaya, HDK said that the party is proud of its decision to stand by a person hailing from the socially neglected section.

He wished that Mamath would represent her community and work for their betterment.
