Bengaluru: The state government appointed Dr K Sudhakar, Congress MLA from Chikkaballapur, as the new chairman of the state pollution control board. This development comes after Sudhakar threatened to quit the Congress and join the BJP.
Last year, AICC Karnataka in-charge K C Venugopal had requested Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to appoint Sudhakar as the pollution control board chief. However, the CM appointed C Jayaram, a retired IFS officer instead.
Now, Sudhakar has been appointed as the Board’s chief in order to put an end to the rebel activities. C Jayaram resigned on Thursday noon and Sudhakar took charge by evening as per the directions of the CM.
