It’s Karnataka, not ‘Karnatak’, Siddu tells Minister Prabhu Chauhan

Bengaluru: A rather sarcastic remark was made in the Assembly on February 20 by opposition leader Siddaramaiah while speaking to Minister for Animal Husbandry Prabhu Chauhan.

The discussion on floods was going on and when Chauhan was speaking, Siddaramaiah ended up asking him if he knows Kannada!

Siddaramaiah said, “You hail from Mumbai originally. Do you even know Kannada?”

Responding to this, Chauhan said that Siddaramaiah was giving out false details about him. “I am from ‘Karnatak,” said Chauhan.

Responding to this in a rather sarcastic manner, Siddaramaiah said: “It is not ‘Karnatak’, it is ‘Karnataka’. Do we call our state ‘Karnatak here? I had been to Bidar for the review meeting and I had seen you speak making a hotchpotch of languages.”

However, Minister for Education S Suresh Kumar ended the discussion on Chauhan’s language saying that once an MP spoke in English in the Parliament for over one hour and at the end former minister Madhu Dandavate asked for the translation!
