Bengaluru: In yet another case of fraud, a teacher has lost Rs 12 Lakh, hoping to make Rs 30 Lakh out of it.

Sunil Mathan, a teacher residing in Teachers’ Colony, Koramangala was approached by Anil Rai, claiming to be a telecom company staff.

With a post-dated cheque for Rs 30 Lakh, Rai offered to set up a mobile tower on Mathan’s property, for which a mutual agreement was made.

Mathan made a payment of Rs 12 Lakh, convinced that it was government charges for tower installation. However, Rai switched off his mobile phone once the transaction was complete.

When Mathan tried to encash the cheque of Rs 30 Lakh given by Rai, it bounced. A dismayed Mathan then filed a complaint with the Madiwala police.

The police are on the look out for Anil Rai, who is currently absconding.
