Bengaluru: What may have seemed like harmless fun has turned out to be disastrous for a group of pranksters, following their arrest by police on Monday, November 11.

Initial reports indicate that a group of seven youths were taken into custody by the police after they were caught trying to scare pedestrians by disguising themselves as ghosts. Inspired by several online videos, the youngsters put on white robes, scruffy wigs, and make-up in an attempt to startle innocent passersby at night time. The pranks, which were carried out near Yeshwantpur, were filmed so that they could be uploaded online later.

After receiving complaints from residents in the area, the police acted promptly and nabbed Shawn Malik (20), Naveed (20), Sajeel Mohammed (21), Mohammed Aqyub (20), Sakeeb (20), Sayed Nabil (20) and Usaf Ahamed.

The pranksters have also been accused of dangerously jumping in front of vehicles and chasing down auto-rickshaws in the garb of a “ghost”.
