Bengaluru: Former minister Varthur Prakash has alleged that he was abducted by miscreants and kept in an unknown location for three days.

“The abductors had demanded Rs.30 crores,” he alleged adding that he was released after he paid a ransom of Rs 48 lac.

A case has been registered in Bellandur police station.

The police recovered the SUV in which Prakash was allegedly abducted.

According to the complaint lodged by Prakash, who was a minister in previous BJP government, he was abducted on November 25 when he was in his farm house in Kolar.

“The kidnappers tortured me and my driver for a whole day and on November 26, I arranged Rs.48 lakhs. On November 26, my driver Sunil was assaulted badly. Luckily, he was able to escape. Fearing that he may approach the police, on November 27, I was released near Hosakote. I reached KR Puram in a cab and took treatment in a private hospital. My drive was treated at a Kolar hospital,” he explained in his complaint.

However, many are surprised that Varthur Prakash did not approach the police for three days. As Prakash also runs real estate business, the police will carry investigation from all the angles.
