Bengaluru: With speaker KR Ramesh Kumar declining to accept the resignation of the Chincholi MLA Umesh Jadhav, who quit Congress to contest from the Kalaburugi Lok Sabha constituency on the BJP ticket, the BJP is planning to field K Ratna Prabha, former Chief Secretary of the Government of Karnataka against Congress heavyweight, incumbent MP Mallikarjuna Kharge.
According to the sources, BJP shortlisted the names of Jadhav and Ratna Prabha for Kalaburugi. “She has agreed to contest on the BJP ticket. A final decision in this regard will be taken soon,” said party sources.
It can be recalled that recently BSP state unit had approached Ratna Prabha and invited her to the party and contest from the Chamarajanagara (SC reserved) constituency, but she declined to contest as a BSP candidate.
