Former CM Kumaraswamy urges state govt to impose 15-days lockdown

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(s) leader HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday advised the state government to enforce a 15-day lockdown in the state to contain the second wave of the virus.

He made this suggestion while addressing at Governor Vajubhai Vala’s all-party conference. The meeting was also attended by CM Yediyurappa, who has tested positive for the virus.

Dr. Sudhakar, the state’s health minister, briefed the meeting on the current state of Covid-19 in the state, as well as the steps were taken by the state government to combat it.

Though MLA HD Revanna claimed that the lockdown would only affect the poor and would not support the cause. Kumaraswamy urged the government to enforce lockdown and to provide financial assistance to the poor for a month.

Siddaramaiah, the Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Soudha, SR Patil, the Leader of the Opposition in the Vidhan Parishad, BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel, DK Shivakumar, the Chief of the KPCC, and Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai. During the meeting, Dr. Sudhakar, R Ashok, DYCM Ashvath Narayan, and others were present.
