‘Fight’ erupts between Congress leaders ahead of by-polls

Bengaluru: A meeting was held at the Congress office here on Tuesday, October 15, to finalise the list of candidates for the upcoming by-elections in the state. Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and AICC General Secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal and other prominent party leaders were present for the meeting.

According to a report by ANI, there was some infighting witnessed during the meeting.

Sources told ANI that the leaders discussed the Hosakote, Chikkaballapur, Yashwanthpura, Mahalakshmilayout, KR Puram and Shivajinagar constituencies. They are also waiting for the BJP’s final candidates list to choose their representatives.

The Congress party, the sources added, is waiting for those leaders who will stand against the BJP after they give tickets to the rebel MLAs formerly of the Congress and JD(S) parties. It is said that some BJP leaders might switch sides and join either the Congress or the JD(S), the added.

It can be recalled that the by-polls for 15 constituencies will be held on December 5. The constituencies are Athani, Kagwad, Gokak, Yellapur, Hirekerur, Ranibennur, Vijayanagara, Chikkaballapur, K R Pura, Yeshvanthapura, Mahalakshmi, Shivajinagar, Hosakote, Krishnarajpet and Hunsur.
