Fake letter: Post Card Editor and founder Mahesh Hegde arrested

Bengaluru: CID cyber wing police arrested Post Card web portal editor and founder Mahesh Vikram Hegde for making a fake letter viral.

He is accused of circulating a letter showing home minister MB Patil writing to Sonia Gandhi on separate religions status to Lingayat community. The letter had gone viral.

The same letter was published in a Kannada daily. MB Patil and Congress national leaders including Kapil Sibal lodged a complaint against the daily with the Election Commission of India.

MB Patil had lodged a complaint against this fake letter at Adarsh Nagar Police Station of Vijayapura. Later, case was transferred to CID cyber wing.

The same letter has been quoted by BJP leaders stating that Congress high command had a role in the Lingayat religion row.

Hegde was arrested even in the past for posting fake news on his site.
