Bengaluru: The expert committee comprising of state text book society office-bearers have urged the state government not to drop Tipu lessons from the social science text books of the primary and high school classes.
This committee was formed following the demand of removal of Tippu lessons from the text books by Madikeri MLA Appachchu Ranjan.
According to the reliable sources in the primary and secondary education department, the committee submitted a confidential report to the state government.
“The committee observed that if the Tipu lessons are dropped from the textbooks, the entire history of the state will experience a missing link as Tipu’s contribution to the freedom movement, agriculture, horticulture, industrialisation etc cannot be made unseen. So it is wise to keep the Tipu lessons,” informed sources.
It can be recalled that Madikeri MLA Appachchu Ranjan was invited for the first meeting of this committee held on November 17.
