Bengaluru: With the idea of attracting more money towards the rebuilding of the flood-affected villages across the state, the government has launched a unique initiative. Under this initiative, if any person or organisation donates Rs.10 crores to the CM relief fund, a village will be named after him or the organization as a thanksgiving gesture.

A decision in this regard has been announced by the CM BS Yediyurappa. It is the first of its kind initiative in any part of the country.
According to the sources in the state government, many people who want to immortalize their name can come forward and donate Rs.10 crores.
“Over 5,000 villages are affected by the flood, landslides and the rain this year. The government needs a huge sum to rehabilitate thousands of families who are affected by this flood. So this scheme has been launched,” informed an officer.
The matter was discussed by the CM during a meeting with over 60 industrialists at Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday. “The village will be treated as a village adopted by the company that donates the money for the relief work,” the Chief Minister said adding that at least 200 villages in 22 districts needed to be ‘relocated’. The industrialists have assured maximum support, but the response will have to waited and watched for.
