Bengaluru: Rehman Khan, State Congress’s Disciplinary Committee President said that MLAs do not have the power to make public remarks about who will be the next Chief Minister as it should be discussed amongst the members of the party.

The question of who will be the Congress’s Chief Ministerial face in the State elections of 2023 has split the party into two sections, with one supporting former CM Siddaramaiah and the other supporting Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar.

Rehman Khan went on to say at a press conference that, “A meeting of the disciplinary committee was convened today. We also talked about some of our legislators’ recent statements. Some of the statements made about the party’s future CM candidate have breached our disciplinary code and is harmful to the stature of the Congress party.”

MLAs were also asked not to comment about the topic by State In-charge Randeep Surjewala. “We didn’t have any kind of record, such as video clippings or newspaper cuttings, with us. We have reviewed some of the statements made by various candidates during the RR Nagar by-election,” he added.
