Bengaluru: Over the last few months, both the state and central government had announced compensation packages for the victims of the Corona Pandemic. Can the government show the figures as if how many beneficiaries it has reached? quizzed KPCC president DK Shivakumar.

DKShi was speaking after inducting Ex MLC and JDS leader Ramesh Babu and his supporters into the party’s fold.

He said that the CM’s Delhi visit has not brought any benefit to the state. “The CM visited Delhi before the legislative session. The state has elected 25 MP’s and even though the CM is not keen on taking an all-party delegation to the center, he could have taken these MP’s delegation to PM and FM and should have discussed the problems and injustices faced by the state and should have obtained promises for more funds for development. But that too has not been done” he anguished.

He added, “There was a practice of inviting all-party MPs together and discuss the state’s development issues keeping aside party politics. But this time even though the parliament session has begun, no such meetings have happened even though the CM himself was in Delhi. Forget about our MPs, at least he could have asked his own party MP’s to pressurize the government for more support to the state. The CM has failed to do so. We will be discussing various issues during the assembly session and we expect to discuss more on the development of the state”. DKShi asked whether the CM can tell the people of the state how much of funds he has asked the center to provide for the development of the state? He went on to ask the pertinent question – How has the state benefited from his visit?

“The PM and FM have announced 20 lakh crore package and we want to know how much amount of this has come to the state. Who are the beneficiaries? How many meetings with the bank managers have been convened by the CM and Chief secretary? How is the CM relief fund and PM care fund being utilized by the state government? We need answers for all,” he insisted. He said the 1,610 crore package and additional packages announced by the government, it is not clear how many have actually benefited. “Can the government give the figures on how many drivers, barbers, tailors, and launderers have got the benefit. The government has to come prepared with these facts and figures on the opening day of the assembly session,” he emphasized.

He also commended the media for their role during the pandemic and lockdown and said they can be assured of the Congress’s Support. “As per media reports, the government has not even distributed the pension amount. During corona, lots of announcements and promises were made. Now its time to tell the public as to who the beneficiaries are. The media are been alerting the government about various issues in the past 6 months thus cautioning the government. The media has done a tremendous job and we are with the media,” he concluded.
