Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association has appealed to Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa and demanded a special package for journalists.

DK District Working Journalists’ Association President Srinivas Nayak Indaje has appealed to the Chief Minister through the President of the Working Journalists’ Association, Shivanand Tagadur. The journalists in the state are in trouble because of the Covid – 19 lockdown, stated the memorandum.

The condition of journalists, especially in rural areas, is miserable. They have been not getting honorarium or salary. Their family is in trouble. Livelihood for them has been a huge challenge. Recently, the government has announced journalists as Front-Line Warriors and has only been giving them the Covid vaccine. No other facility is available to journalists. Srinivas Nayak in the memorandum hence has requested on behalf of all the journalists to announce a special package for journalists.
