Bengaluru: In a ritual seeking good fortune and protection from any harm, the devotees in Bengaluru, led the cows decorated with garlands and bells, over burning hay, on the occasion of Makara Sankranti.
The Makara Sankaranti festival marks the advent of spring and is celebrated by kite-flying and other regional festivities in the month of January.
It is believed that the age-old ritual will bring good fortune and keep cows and other livestock and crops from harm’s way.
