Bengaluru: After Yettinahole, the state government is now all set to take up another disastrous drinking water project which is expected to hit the ecosystem hard. The state government is planning to divert water from the Linganamakki dam to Bengaluru city with the intention of increasing the water supply here.
Speaking to the reporters, DCM Dr G Parameshwara, who is also the Bengaluru development minister informed that he has asked his officers to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) in this regard.
The distance between Bengaluru and the Linganamakki dam area is about 400 kilometers.
“Bengaluru may get 10 TMC of water from the Lingamakki dam and the project cost would be around Rs 12,000 crores. We will make a final decision on the project after getting the DPR,” the DCM said.
