Bengaluru: The State High Court here observed that all the daily wage workers are entitled to full dearness allowance payment and paid leave.
The ruling was made by a bench headed by Justice M. Nagaprasanna in response to petition filed by a daily wage employees’ union. The bench stated that reductions in the dearness allowance and recovery of paid leaves including encashed leaves are illegal. There is no such provision for the same under the Karnataka Daily Wage Employees Welfare Act, 2012, the bench further observed.
It can be noted that the State Government in 2014 reduced dearness allowances to 75 per cent and 90 per cent in 2020.
