Bengaluru: After joining the BJP just two days ago, Sampangiramnagar Corporator R Vasanth Kumar returned to the Congress party on Thursday, December 5.

Addressing a press conference along with KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao, Kumar accused BJP leaders of abruptly taking him to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s residence and making him join the BJP.

“They took me to the CM’s house for tea and made me join the party. I did not know how to respond. The allegations on me that I shifted loyalty for money is wrong,” said Kumar.

Speaking to reporters, Dinesh Gundu Rao said that despite being pressured by the BJP to quit Congress, Kumar was now back in the party fold. “It is an example of what BJP is doing. BJP is known to do all this. They do not have any confidence in their own leaders and they are just trying to poach our leaders. They have pressurised our corporator Kumar. However, he is back with us,” he said.

Rao further demanded that the BJP stop trying to poach its state party leaders and members.

It can be recalled that Congress had expelled two Shivajinagar corporators owing to their ‘anti-party’ activities.
