Bangalore: An incident wherein Congress MLA from Hunagunda Vijayanand Kashappanavar reportedly assaulted the policemen for coming in the way of a late night party has been reported from the capital on Wednesday July 2.
Sources said the MLA and his supporters assaulted two policemen who objected the partying with loud music and dance till late night. It has been reliably learnt that a rowdy sheeter named Somashekhar who was with the MLA had played a major role in the assault.
A case has been registered against the MLA and Somashekhar in Cubbon Park Police Station accusing them of assault and obstructing the policemen from doing their duty.
It is learnt that rowdy Somashekhar had booked the Skyye Bar at UB City for a birthday party. Vijayanand and three other Congress MLAs had arrived for the party at around 10 pm and were consuming liquor and dancing later on. As per the rule, the bar personnel had stopped supply of liquor as well as music at 11.30 pm. However, the MLA who opposed this forced the bar staff to continue the music.
Local residents who were irked with the loud music had complained to the police and Kiran Kumar and Prashanth Naik, policemen on night duty arrived at the place when the two were assaulted.
