Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa is in favour of a proposal in which the government will provide financial aid to private medical colleges to retrofit their beds with oxygen supply.
The proposal was put forth by the CM on Saturday May 2 in a meeting with higher officials and doctors from the private healthcare sector. The government is planning to add more oxygen beds under government to deal with shortage of beds and oxygen in the state.
At the meeting, Yediyurappa evinced interest on leveraging infrastructure available in the private sector to increase the availability of oxygenated beds, which is the need of the hour.
In order to overcome manpower shortage, it was decided to use services of final-year medical and nursing students for Covid – 19 duty apart from using final-year students of dental, hospital management, pharmacy, physiotherapy, and ayush for pandemic works.
