Bengaluru: In a big setback to the BBMP, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has withheld the state government’s approval for their budget that was approved by its council back in March.
Earlier, when H D Kumaraswamy was the CM, the state government had asked the BBMP to revise the budget and bring down the total budget outlay to a realistic figure.
Based on this direction, the BBMP council revised and sent the budget, which was later approved by the state urban development department. But now, the new CM has withheld the budget stating that it hasn’t been approved by the state cabinet.
“Four months of the financial year has already lapsed. It is really sad that the BBMP’s budget is yet to get the government’s nod. The new cabinet is yet to be formed and by the time the BBMP’s budget is approved, it will be October. Such a delay leads to poor implementation of various projects,” explained an official from the BBMP.
