Bengaluru: City traffic police registered 8326 cases on Wednesday against vehicle drivers for various traffic rules violations.
It is a new record in terms of number of cases registered.
According to the additional commissioner of police (traffic) BR Ravikanthe Gowda, Rs.43.06 lakh was collected as fine for the rule violations.
The special drive was carried out by the traffic police, following complaints of an increase in the accidents. Death of a medical student on Monday after her two-wheeler was hit by a speeding truck caused wide spread public outcry against the city traffic police.
