Karnataka: The results of the by-polls held for Chincholi and Kundgol Assembly segments will be out on May 23, alongside the much-awaited 2019-Lok Sabha polls. The initial trends in Kundgol saw Congress candidate Kusumavathi Shivalli leading with 4,066 vote margin against BJP’s SI Chikkanagoudar. The death of Congress minister for Municipalities CS Shivalli, on March 22 necessitated the by-poll and the Congress, in a bid to bag the sympathy votes, fielded Shivalli’s wife Kusumavathi Shivalli to retain the seat.

Chikkanagoudar had lost to C S Shivalli by a narrow margin of 633 votes in May, 2018 assembly polls.

Meanwhile, in Chincholi, the Avinash Jadhav of the BJP took a lead of 4,514 against Congress candidate Subhash Rathod. The by-polls were necessitated after Avinash’s father and Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav resigned as rebel legislator.
