Centenary schools in Karnataka to get heritage tag

Bengaluru: As many as 100 schools across the state which have crossed 100 years will get heritage tag and Rs.2.5 lakhs fund for the renovation and conservation works.

Commissioner, DPI PC Jafer issued a circular in this regard.

According to the circular, the department has identified 100 government primary and the high schools which have crossed 100 years. These schools will be considered as heritage schools. The earmarked amount will also be used for documentation of the school history.

As per the direction, all the school headmasters have been directed to convene a meeting of the School Development and Monitoring Committees (SDMCs). The meeting must finalise important works. Commissioner PC Jafer has directed the SDMCs and the school headmasters to take the help of the Zilla Panchayat engineers to finalise the developmental works.

The Commissioner also directed the school headmasters to document the school history through a 50-page book, which should have pictures and write-ups on the schools’ history.
