Bengaluru: Law minister, J C Madhu Swamy, a close follower of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, downplayed RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s statement that BSY will retire from electoral politics in 2023.
“BSY is our leader. He will lead the BJP in the 2023 Assembly elections. He will ensure that the party will win 150 seats and continue as the CM,” he stated.
Bhat had stirred up controversy in the BJP circles on Sunday, January 19, by stating that BSY will not contest in the 2023 state Assembly elections.
“BSY never spoke of retirement from politics,” Madhu Swamy clarified.
Meanwhile, he declined to speak about the state Cabinet expansion and the induction of new DCMs.
