Bengaluru: The All India Brahmana Mahasabha Karnataka state unit has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against state forest minister Satish Jarakiholi for his statement against the Brahmin community.
A delegation led by the Mahasabha president K N Venkatanarayana met the State Chief Election Officer Sanjeev Kumar and lodged a complaint in this regard.
It can be recalled that while addressing an election rally in the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency, Satish Jarakiholi had stated that it is the OBCs, SCs, STs and Muslims who sacrificed their lives for the country while in the military uniform. “Did you ever hear of upper castes like the Deshpandes, Joshis or Kulkarnis sacrificing their lives for the country?” he had asked.
His speech led to a massive controversy and the Congress party distanced itself from the statement and the minister.
