Bengaluru: The Talacauvery region will receive Rs 1 crore for its development, said Bengaluru Mayor M Gowtham Kumar on Friday, October 18 morning.
The Mayor made the announcement after participating in the ‘Cauvery Theerthodbava’ festival that witnessed thousands of devotees thronging the base point of the Cauvery river so as to take a dip in the holy water.
Speaking to ANI, Kumar said, “The people of Bengaluru are using Cauvery water for several years. This river is a source of water for people here, so it is our duty to develop the base point of Cauvery.”
Talacauvery is considered to be sacred by many since it is the birthplace of the Cauvery river, one of the major water sources for the people of Karnataka and the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu.
