Bengaluru: The candidature of lawyer and Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha leader Tejasvi Surya as the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha candidate, was met with “Go Back Tejasvi” slogans by the BJP partyworkers, here on Tuesday, March 26.

Today morning, the announcement of Tejasvi Surya’s candidature for LS polls came as a shocker to him. Soon after, he rushed to the BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa’s residence in the city. He then met Tejasvini Ananth Kumar, wife of union minister Late Ananth Kumar, along with Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar.

The party workers on coming to know of his presence at Ananth Kumar’s residence, gathered there and started raising the slogans “Tejasvi down down.”

Tejasvini came out of the house and requested the party workers to support the candidate that is decided by the party as well as stand by the party’s decision.

As he was about to leave from Ananth Kumar’s residence in Rajeev Chandrashekhar’s car, the party workers gheraoed the car and questioned Tejasvi why the ticket was given to him instead of Tejasvini Ananth Kumar.

Meanwhile, Tejasvi addressing the media said, “I was not expecting that I would be chosen as the Bengaluru South Lok Sabha candidate. I received directions from the party high command yesterday night that I had to contest the election. I stand by the party’s decision and I have also visited Late Ananth Kumar’s residence to seek blessings from his wife Tejasvini Ananthkumar.”

He said that he would work for the people of Bengaluru South who had witnessed the best leadership under Ananth Kumar from the past 30 years.

Tejasvi said, “I was groomed by Ananth Kumar and was guided in every step that I took. I will definitely work sincerely for the people of his constituency.”

As he said this and got into the car again, the party workers shouted “go back Tejasvi”, during which Tejasvini Ananth Kumar came out of her residence and calmed down the protesters.

Earlier, there were strong speculations that Tejasvini Ananth Kumar will be announced as the Bengaluru South candidate. However, when Tejasvi’s name was announced, the party workers were upset.
