Bengaluru: A day after nine MLAs from north Karnataka had dinner at major industries minister Jagadish Shettar’s residence, sending shockwaves across state BJP unit, on Tuesday, a section of BJP lingayat MLAs belonging to the panchamasali sect also joined for a dinner at a private hotel. This meeting was attended by Basava Jaya Mrithyunjaya seer from Kudala Sangama.

There is no clarity on how many MLAs attended the meeting, but according to the sources, in the meeting it was decided to pressurise the CM to induct panchamasali MLAs into his cabinet and MLC post for caste leader Mohan Limbikai from Hubballi.

Health minister B Sreeramulu confirmed the meeting, but he denied any groupism in the party.

“They met over a dinner to discuss the development of the North Karnataka region,” he said.

It may be recalled that Panchamasali seer Vachananda Swamiji had irked Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa publicly at an event in Haveri, when he said that the Panchamasalis would withdraw the support given to the CM if the community MLAs are not inducted into the cabinet.

The Seer had made a specific mention about MLA Murugesh Nirani.

Raged by this, the CM had announced to walk out of the event and had also said that nobody should try to threaten him.

The members of the same community coming together for a dinner has reportedly left the state BJP unit worried.
