Basavaraj Somappa Bommai takes oath as 30th Chief Minister of K'taka

Bengaluru: Basavaraj Somappa Bommai took oath in the name of God as the 30th Chief Minister here at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday July 28. With this, the State has seen 23 persons holding the post of CM.

The oath ceremony saw 1000 people in attendance. Apart from his family members, his supporters from Shiggaon constituency were also present.

The swearing in ceremony was attended by the Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Kishan Reddy, appointed as observers by the BJP parliamentary board, outgoing chief minister B.S. Yediyurappa, all top leaders of the state. Barring senior Congress leader R.V. Deshpande, opposition leaders remained absent.

He is the second person to hold Chief Minister’s post whose father was a Chief Minister. The first father-son duo to share this distinction was former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy.
