Bengaluru: City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao banned the movement of vehicles inside Cubbon Park on all fourth Saturdays and on holidays.
It can be recalled that presently vehicle movement has been banned inside the park on all Sundays and 2nd Saturdays. As per the new order vehicles will not be allowed inside the park on 4th Saturdays and public holidays too.
According to the sources, a decision in this regard was taken after the state horticulture department submitted a proposal to the police recently.
Locals and the activists have been demanding a ban on the vehicle movement inside the park permanently. But this demand has been rejected by the police and the state government citing traffic congestion issues in the central business district areas of the city.
