Bengaluru: Dejected and disappointed, after missing out an opportunity to be in the state cabinet, MLA Umesh Katti headed to New Delhi to meet the national leaders and speak to them about why he should have been accommodated in the cabinet.

However, to his dismay, all his dreams were shattered when Home Minister Amit Shah reportedly did not take out time to meet him.

Eight time MLA, Umesh Katti himself said that he had stayed back in New Delhi to meet Shah, but the latter was too busy. Katti was accompanied by his brother, BJP MLA Ramesh Katti.

It is said that though BJP National President JP Nadda tried to arrange a meeting  between Katti and Shah, it yielded no results.

If sources are to be believed, CM BS Yediyurappa was keen on inducting Katti into the cabinet, but Shah was not eager to have him on board.

Katti and his supporters had expressed their unhappiness when Laxman Savadi was made the DCM. It is also said that Katti now wants the JDS and the Congress to come together to defeat Savadi. This inclination of Katti may have raged Amit Shah.

Future of Savadi as DCM is uncertain as he has to pass an MLC poll to remain in the top post. It is said that Katti’s supporters will never support Savadi if the Congress and the JDS MLAs vote against Savadi.

After having been neglected by the BJP top leader, Katti said he will talk about his plans in Belagavi on Friday.

It may be recalled that soon after the cabinet expansion and reshufle, a miffed Katti had sent out a video message saying that he will not settle with anything less and he now intends to become a Chief Minister because he is fit to be one.

He represents Hukkeri assembly segment.
