Amid spike in covid cases, Karnataka issues new guidelines

Bengaluru: After the all-party meeting held by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, the state government has issued new guidelines to contain the Covid 19 guidelines in the state. The guidelines shall continue to remain in force from 9 pm of April 21 up to 6 am of May 4, 2021.

The order issued by the Government of Karnataka states that the state government is extending the night curfew in Bengaluru from 9 pm to 6 am and imposing it throughout the state. Apart from that, the Karnataka government is considering other measures, such as a weekend curfew from From Friday 9 pm to Monday 6 am. Movie theatres, Swimming pools, Parks, Assembly halls Gyms, yoga, and sports centers, Places of worship, schools, and colleges, educational or training institutions will remain closed from tomorrow April 21 to May 4, to help control the pandemic in the state. However, restaurants and bars are permitted to operate but customers are only allowed takeaway options and not dine in.

All the Construction work, repair activities, salons, and barbershops are allowed to operate adhering to covid appropriate behavior (CAB). Shops selling essential items will be allowed to operate. Banks insurance offices, ATMs, Online delivery of items are permitted.

However, there is no restriction on the interstate and intrastate movement of persons and goods, but people coming from other states shall strictly adhere to the prevailing guidelines issued by the health department. Movement of the people through public transport with 50% seating capacity is allowed. Marriages permitted strictly adhering to CAB with a maximum of 50 people.

To ensure strict enforcement of the measures, the government has said that legal action will be taken against those who don’t follow the guidelines.
